In recent years Rome is rediscovering a dynamic and
vibrant metropolis, presenting itself as a cultural city with a positive and interesting both day and night.
Also with regard to recreation and entertainment, the Holy City
has nothing to envy to other European capitals. Roman evenings
usually begin at aperitif time in one of the trendy clubs of downtown.
However, the nightlife goes live later, both during the week and
weekends. The evening shows and performances in pubs in fact usually
do not start until 22:00, ending late at night!
You can experience the best of Roman nightlife during the summer.
From June to September several concerts, shows and outdoor events
are organized in the squares and streets of Rome. In other seasons,
you can always go in one of the many local clubs, nightclubs,
theaters or community centers in the city that offer entertainment
and evenings for all tastes and all ages: several performances
of cabaret, but also opera and musicals fit for Italian and foreigners.
The major concerts take place at Palaeur, at the Olympic Stadium
and at the Parco della Musica, but also a concert on May 1st,
usually held in Piazza San Giovanni, is certainly a good opportunity
(for free) to assist in exhibitionism artists of national and
international fame.
Then let us remember other events that attract visitors from abroad
each year, including:
- La Notte Bianca (sleepless night), recently introduced
in the Roman calendar, during which you can go to the theater,
cinema, visiting museums and going into shops for shopping;
- The International Cinema Festival, an event that aims
to create and bring to Rome the fascination and importance of
the main European editions (the first edition was held in 2006);
- TevereExpo, Italian craft market (not only italan)
that is held every year between June and July along the banks
of the Tiber, where you can buy Roman gourmet and regional products;
- In July it also held the Festa de Noantri, colorful
folk festival during which the townspeople line with stalls a
lot of streets, selling pork and goods of every kind. The closing
fireworks are really spectacular!
- During the Epiphany time, in Piazza Navona is celebrated the
Feast of Epiphany, where you can buy Christmas items
and sweets in the many stalls that crowd the square.
A lot of other events should be mentioned, but there no space
left!
